CHILLI BITE'S RUN - 10 APRIL 2011

So at 8am Mitch & I met up with Michael & Tamzin in their yellow bug as well as some of the Bad News bikers.
Riding along the N1, Mitch even pushed his bug to 120kph with 5 people on board. Not too shabby but those hills really spoil one’s fun. Maybe we need some Nitros.
Onwards to the Engen Garage on the N1 where we caught up with Anton & Naomi, Christo & Sandra, Eben & Corissa (nice to see familiar biker faces) and MW & Rita who were on their bike. We also met up with more of the Bad News members.

We messed around there for a while and then it was time to move on to meet the others. Almost rode away from Michael but he came out just in time. We then met up with Gustav & Juanita (in their car coz something on their bug broke) and Ouboet & Leana. Gustav wasn’t too happy with my hair but hey, he’ll come around. I will now just be the BBCBA (blonde bombshell with the chilli bite attitude). Haha

Lastly it was Niel’s turn who we found patiently waiting with the Bad News biker boys along the N2. Sorry Niel. I didn’t realise Lanners Landing was so far away. The last part of the run was beautiful all the way to Rooi Els. The weather had warmed up nicely by now. But my hair was not looking good. By this stage it was doing the fuzzy duck!!!

And so we arrived at Drummond Arms. 7 bugs in total and the Bad News bikers.
Ralph & Glenn stayed at the back of the bunch ensuring no-one was left behind. Their road captain duties were perfect. 42 people in total attended this run – WOW!!! Impressive.
Most of us had the R30 biker breakfast and once finished, John got on the mike. There were lots of prizes: food vouchers from Drummond Arms, glasses, wine, t-shirts and lots more. Almost everyone got something.
After a hearty meal and good company, bikers and bugs parted ways. The 7 bugs ended up in Beach Road in Strand for a well deserved ice-cream.

From there my mission was just to get home. I was hot and my hair looked even more fuzzier. Definitely not cool.

A very big THANKS to everyone who make our run so special.

Dear Niel Beer’s Run, SUNDAY 8TH MAY2011

Sunday morning 07h00 – the weather looked fine – the run to SPIER was on!

We all met at the Burger Fair, eight buggies, one bike and Johan in his red Dodge Cruiser.

Gustav was there with his new Kango “Double Cab” buggy which looks absolutely amazing – great job Gustav!

Fortunately this time around folks managed to get some coffee and the odd bite to eat before hitting the road.

We left at 10h00 on the dot.

The robots in Voortrekker Rd were kind to us and the convoy moved without too many stops and starts.
We arrived at Spier Estate exactly at 10h30.

From there onwards everyone very much did their own thing. Some folks went bird watching (Falcons eagles owls etc!) cheetah watching and even beer tasting (and all the time I thought Spier only sold wine!). Being Mother’s day some ladies were even spoilt with gifts from the local craft market.  After Mitch and Kareen watched the Bird of prey demonstration we set of for Onder Papagaai Berg at about 12h00.

We stopped of at Mom’s Cafe in Devon Valley Rd to stock up on chips and cold drinks and also for all to use the loo, seeing that the picnic spot does not have any such facilities.

When we arrived in the Pine Forrest, everyone very quickly settled down and got stuck into their picnic goodies. Wynand then left and we continued with the raffle. At 13h30 we all went our merry ways.

Thanks for all the folks that attended, especially Gustav and Ouboet and their families who still had a long drive home.

SANDRA & CHRISTO SE RUN:

Lekker – Sommer n lang pad ry vandag Ceres toe!  My eerste run as Mev Jacobs!
Ag genade, ek was nie!
