Previous Run: Jp & Karen’s Run. 13 September 2015. THE BARNYARD RUN..

2015 OctoberThe morning of the 20th of September saw the President pacing up and down, not sure of what his next action should be. After all, runs normally start at 8 or 9 in the morning for goodness sake! What was he supposed to do until 12! In the mean time, Bonnet & Kop got to Bothasig 2 hours early but managed to spend some quality time with another chick in the parking lot…… Her name was Kentucky . Go Markus!

2015 October2015 OctoberAnyway, eventually 12 o’clock arrived. It looked like discount day at KFC there were so many people in the parking lot. What an awesome sight to see so many of the Buggers (plus a few guests) together, 34 in total, for a Sunday run. With rain in the air, some of the Buggers with running Bugs decided a car may be a better option, which was a pity ‘cos Mother Nature stayed at bay and it ended up to be a lovely day to take a spin in a Buggy. By 12:30 we had just about the entire club assembled and, before the mense from Bothasig started thinking that we were an illegal gathering and since B&K had already cleared out KFC, we headed off on the “stock” Durbanville Hills drive to Tygervalley and the Barnyard Theatre, where we were destined to watch “Bonfire Hearts”.  On the way we decided to take the long way around to appreciate the awesome beauty the Hills have to offer and also to give me enough time to klap my 1st beer of the day.

That said, we arrived in the parking lot 2015 Octoberafter being let through an open boom and off the hook for forking out for parking with plenty of time in hand to arrange eats and drinks and to figure out the seating arrangements. Needless to say, most of the buggers went in prepared taking care to ensure that they had sufficient beverages to keep them going until at least interval. For most that meant picking up an entire bucket stuffed with their favorites and ice to make sure they stayed cold.

2015 OctoberBonfire Hearts was/is a tribute show to some of the legends in songwriting over the last 40 or 50 years. The muso’s entertained us with music from Neil Diamond, The Eagles, Rod Stewart, James Blunt, Avicii, Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Mumford & Sons and a host of other musicians and bands. Well, what a show it was! We booked the seats right at the stage as this is where the “fun” happens. Some were “suspect” about what they were going to experience for the first time but after the 2nd song the newbees started nodding the heads and singing with to the familiar songs.. Then we knew it was “nag Nella”. The bug has bitten! When the lead singer invited people to stand and join in on the clapping and singing… there was NO way the buggers needed a 2nd invitation and when the Captain said “we haven’t had that spirit here since 1969”, he wasn’t kidding!

2015 OctoberMaxie was serenaded by a well tanned and awesome James Blunt’s singing “you’re beautiful” and Yolande was taken by the hand and sang to… “Yolande..you’re beautiful…”. Out of all the girls in the room “our girls” were the chosen ones . When interval came and we were very happy with the reactions, comments and feedback about how much fun this was, but not surprised. This was right up a Buggers ally (so to speak).

2015 October It is actually unbelievable amazing to think how good these folks actually are. The depth of talent that we have in this country is truly amazing. Their interactive approach and the crowd response highlights just what fantastic entertainers they are. Spectacular! WOW!  I know Ouboet and myself bought CD’s afterwards and they have not left our players since . I think it can be agreed that judging from all had singing, clapping (and even a bit of dancing), EVERYONE had a great time.  I know we certainly did. I heard 1 person say it was the best 100 bucks they’d ever spent. It was quite a task to come up with a run that would bring something ‘fresh to the party’. When one thinks about it, there is so little that has not been done before. We have certainly had some really awesome runs over the years and we hope that “The Barnyard Run” falls into that category.  We are looking to making this an annual event and can’t wait to see what will be on offer at The Barnyard next year…..

Die karriekiemense,

Sondag se run gaan n familie dag wees en ons gaan BRAAI. Bring braaigoed, hout, vleis, swemklere, sonbrandolie stoele en ietsie vir die dors. Daar is baie koelte.

Die venue is tussen Paarl en Stellenbosch.

Die ingang is R45 per persoon.

Next Camp – Jp & Karen’s Camp. 30 & 31 Oct - 01st Nov 2015.

Hallo everyone
We have found a beautiful place that we would like to book for our weekend camp at the end of October/beginning November…………………. And it’s BUGGY FRIENDLY
… We are delighted to invite you to join us for a nice relaxing weekend away from home….Dates: 30 & 31 Oct - 01st Nov 2015 (please note amended date)
Meet in Melkbos either 15h30 or 17h30, whichever time suits you best, as we will have 2 x trips going out. JP will take the early trip and I will take the later one. For those that cannot make either of these times, we will give directions closer to the time. We are hoping to keep the venue a surprise for all but if you feel you are not willing to go unless you know where you are going, chat to us.
Details: 2x options:
1st option: There are approximately 20 lodgings with ablutions & communal kitchen and the rooms each sleep 4 people (2 x double bunks, fitted sheets provided) and a table @ R100 p/p per night. These rooms have electricity. Very nice ablution blocks just meters away (boys & girls separate). They have a gas geyser so we all will have hot water to shower. There’s a big communal kitchen with a fridge, 4 plate gas stove, big table and basin etc. There is plenty of lighting outside. The rooms are all next to one another.
You need to bring:

2nd option: There are 3 x little bigger chalets that have 1 x double bed and a fold-out sleeper couch. This can sleep either 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children @ R500 p/ night. Bedding and towels incl. this also has a small kitchen with minimal facilities and a small fridge. Unfortunately 1st come first served basis as there are only 2 left.

The venue would like a 50% deposit before securing the booking and being the ‘end of the year’ we will need to secure this booking as soon as possible. Preferably: Monday 5th of October. This means that should you like to join us, we would appreciate your 50% accommodation deposit by no later than 4 Oct 2015. Banking details to be provided during the week.
